"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education" – Martin Luther King

It gives me immense pride and satisfaction to share the journey of Government Arts College, Maninagar, an institution committed to providing quality education at a nominal cost. Our goal has always been to create a centre of excellence, fostering an environment of teaching, learning, and research that contributes to the holistic development and capacity building of each student.

Our mission goes beyond academics. We are dedicated to instilling the values of patriotism, communal harmony, and national integration, aiming to mould our students into responsible, ideal citizens of the nation.

As we step into the second decade of our academic journey, my heart swells with pride at the progress we have made, not only in academic growth but in nurturing young minds who are confident, competent, and compassionate. The college, strategically located to benefit students from nearby areas, especially young women, has become a beacon of opportunity for those who may otherwise have limited access to higher education.

Dr. Namita Sharma

Since its inception in 2007 with six subjects: Sanskrit, English, Gujarati, Economics, Psychology, and Indian Culture, the college has steadily expanded. In 2020, we introduced the National Service Scheme (NSS), and in 2021, we further enhanced our academic offerings by adding History, Geography, and Political Science as core subjects.

This year marks a special milestone as our first batch of students under the National Education Policy (NEP) is set to graduate. With a firm commitment to the NEP's vision, we are working together as a team to ensure its effective implementation in both spirit and practice

The vibrancy of our campus is further enriched by active participation in co-curricular and cultural activities. The ‘Saptdhara’ initiative coordinates these efforts, with each department guiding a specific ‘Dhara’ or ‘Stream’. Through debates, elocution, music (classical, folk, and western), quizzes, and creative competitions, we ensure that every student’s talents are recognised and nurtured.

At Government Arts College, Maninagar, we believe in making learning accessible, relevant, and transformative. We aim to develop individuals who are ready to face the world with knowledge, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility.
