Brief History of The College

Government Arts College, Maninagar, Ahmedabad was established by the Government of Gujarat in June 2007 to uplift education in the socio-economically challenged eastern region of the city. The foundation ceremony was led by then Chief Minister Shree Narendra Modi and Education Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel, dedicating the upcoming educational campus to renowned scholar Padmashree Keshavram K. Shastri.

On 19th June 2008, the Padmashree Keshavram K. Shastri Educational Campus was inaugurated, housing the Arts College and six other institutions, all equipped with modern facilities.

The college offers six undergraduate subjects, including Indology – Indian Culture, introduced for the first time by Gujarat University. It also hosts diploma courses in Temple Management and Astrology in collaboration with Shree Somnath Sanskrit University. In 2011, the “Smrutikaksha” museum was inaugurated in memory of Padmashree Keshavram K. Shastri, showcasing his personal memorabilia donated by his family.

Beyond academics, the college promotes overall student development through a girls' NCC wing, sports, and various extracurricular activities. It actively participates in Gujarat University youth festivals, Saptadhara programs, literary seminars, Udisha job fairs, and more. In a short span, the college has earned a reputation for excellence and holistic education.
